Mini-Delta Production Halted

What A Sad Day

The Mini Delta by Monoprice was my favorite small 3D printer. Monoprice would sell reconditioned units at around $100, which would fit perfectly into my budget. And it was small enough, about the size of a coffee maker, to haul from library to library in the system to write library collection information on each disk with a marking pen.

Good-Bye Minnie, I'll miss you a lot!

Fun-Dry.com on hold too.

More Shifts From Real to Virtual

Our fun-dry.com site is also on a back burner for a while. It was going to be about some projects I was going to try to build in the shop. Because of new software from Reallusion.com that I'm learning how to use, my focus is diverted to learning the animation tools that the system provides. The decision of whether to continue in the same direction when it comes into focus again, or be converted into just virtual ideas with illustrations hasn't been finalized yet.

  • 2D Videos

The 2D animation software lets us take an image and move some objects in the photo to be animated. It's amazing how effective something so simple can be.

  • 3D Videos

Reallusion's iClone 3D animation software is used here to product some realistic and some fantasy scenes.

  • Website Assets

Logos, Videos, Animated .gif's, and more that will help your site express itself. If a picture is truely worth a thousand words, then an animation might be worth 100,000 words.

  • Fun Stuff

Stories, Fables, Cartoons, and Video Shorts. Much of this section is currently from some of the first days with the software, so my expertise with the product shows with some rather creepy scenes. I'm hopeful that when I learn more of the platform that the images will morph from creepy to fun and entertaining. We can only hope...and study.

2D vs. 3D

See some applications of each as you decide which will work better for your application.

A basic difference is that 2D are somewhat easier to build than their 3D counterparts, but the 3D is able to change perspective and viewports to give a deeper understand of the process being explained.

Examples

Visit the pages linked to below to see some early examples of our work.

2D Examples

These 2D video clips were made with Reallusion.com software (Cartoon Animator 5.22)

Included here are some creepy first attempts at image animation, some trying to lip sync with a song, a couple of different characters 'auditioning' for the part of assembly instructor.

3D Examples

These 3D clips used Character Creator 4.4 and iClone 8.4 (by Reallusion.com)

These demos are simple displays of the 3D models generated using the automatic generation feature of Character Creator. They use some of the standard calibration motions to display both facial animation and whole body animation.

Website Assets

This is for some future examples of animations and image renderings that can be used on a website for various functions.
